Sarah was last seen on April 3, 1987, along with her daughter, Kimberly, and her friend, Linda. They attended a gospel concert in Walterboro, South Carolina, and were traveling home to Orangeburg County when they disappeared. A witness saw Linda’s 1977 blue Lincoln on Route 15, followed by another car, but couldn’t describe the second vehicle or its occupants. Sarah’s husband, Phillip, arrived home from work at midnight and initially assumed she and Kimberly were staying with relatives or Linda. When they hadn’t returned by 6:00 a.m. the next morning, he contacted the police. On April 5, a friend of Linda’s husband called to report seeing their Lincoln abandoned near the intersection of Highway 15 and Highway 176 in Dorchester County. The car had a blown freeze plug, causing the engine to overheat. In 1990, Sarah’s credit card was used at a local mall, but the signature didn’t match hers. The identity of the user remains unknown.
