Alma Root Last Seen: January 1, 1980 The Alma Root case is a pretty well known case in the missing persons community as quite a bit has been written on it. I personally have read about her case several times over the years and there is a general consensus as to what likely happened to her. We know that from a very young age Alma was sexually abused by her father, however, when she went missing her father was in prison, but later on in life after he served his time, he was one of the people that helped to look for her. On the day that she disappeared, the companion that she was with was a man by the name of Scott Petschek. Essentially what Scott said was that Alma wanted him to drop her off at her aunts house near Rio Linda California. After Scott came back from work to pick her up, he didn’t see her and never heard from her. We do know from basic research that Scott Petschek is still alive, however, he is registered Sex Offender in the state of California as he has had several sexual convctions against him after Alma went missing. He has maintained his innocence all these years and I think within the last 10 or so years, he was released from jail. Still though, I think the general consensus is that Scott likely played a big role in her disappearance. Her father died in the late 90s I think..but her mom is still alive and some of her siblings are still alive and they are still searching for her. https://charleyproject.org/case/alma-violet-root
