Brewer was last seen in Wooton, Kentucky, on August 6, 2017, while staying with a friend. The friend left to attend a funeral, leaving the house keys with Brewer, but upon returning, both Brewer and the keys were gone. He has not been heard from since. Prior to his disappearance, Brewer was reportedly acting paranoid, telling a friend that someone was trying to get him. He had also been struggling with a serious infection in his arm, and while his doctor recommended hospitalization, Brewer declined and was instead prescribed two bottles of antibiotics. When he disappeared, both bottles were found at the residence, with only one dose missing from each.
