Summary

Bonita Bickwit and her boyfriend, Mitchel Weiser, disappeared on July 27, 1973, while hitchhiking to the Summer Jam concert in Watkins Glen, New York, an event that drew hundreds of thousands of attendees. Bonita, who was working at Camp Wel-Met in Narrowsburg, New York, had met Mitchel, a photography assistant from Coney Island, during his time off work. Together, they set off for the concert, 75 miles away, carrying backpacks, sleeping bags, and a cardboard sign reading “Watkins Glen.” The couple reportedly had $25 between them. The last confirmed sighting was by a truck driver who gave them a ride along State Route 97. It’s unknown if they ever reached the concert, and they were never heard from again. The case remains unsolved, and key evidence, including their dental records, was lost. Authorities have since acknowledged errors in the initial investigation.
