Candice Caffas was reported missing by her parents on July 16, 2022, at approximately 3:10 a.m. from their home in the 9100 block of Mount Pleasant Road in Union Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania. She had fled the house in the early morning hours by escaping through the bathroom window. A passerby last saw her later that morning at approximately 5:30 a.m. near the railroad tracks and State Game Lands 213 along PA Highway 28. Candice has been diagnosed with Prader-Willi syndrome, a genetic disorder that affects cognitive and physical development. She has the mental capacity of a 10- to 12-year-old, and a key characteristic of her condition is an insatiable hunger, which often leads individuals to wander in search of food.
