Christopher was living in an RV park in Monahans, Texas, while working with his uncle. His wife, Angela Sanders, said he had moved there from their home in Cason, Texas, in April 2017 to work in the oil fields. On the night of August 12, 2017, Christopher and his co-workers had a cookout. Several attendees later said he seemed agitated, though it was unclear why. Angela, who spoke to him on the phone, noticed he had been acting differently all week. When she asked what was wrong, he told her, “I’m so tired, and I don’t know how much longer I can take this.” The next morning, around 9:30 a.m., he went for a walk. About 45 minutes later, his cousin—who also lived in the area—called to check in. Christopher said he was walking eastbound along I-20. He then ended the call, and when his cousin tried calling back, his phone was off. That was the last time anyone is known to have spoken with Christopher. His camper and truck were left at the RV park.
