Sage, a transgender woman whose legal name is Dashad, was last seen around 6:30 p.m. on November 20, 2012, in the 500 block of West Main Street in Charlottesville, Virginia. She had been in contact with Erik McFadden, whom she met online, and they had arranged to meet near the Amtrak station. Sage had been paid by Erik to keep their relationship a secret from his girlfriend. Sage has not been seen or heard from since, and her phone, which she typically kept charged and on, has remained off. Shortly after her disappearance, Erik left town. His girlfriend reported him missing on November 24, but he later contacted police from New York, stating that Sage never showed up for their meeting. When law enforcement requested he return for further questioning, Erik declined. Days later, he admitted to meeting Sage on the evening of her disappearance but claimed he did not know what happened to her. Erik’s last known contact was an untraceable email sent to his girlfriend in May 2013. Erik remains a person of interest in the case. Additional individuals of interest are also being looked into.
