After spending the evening with friends, he told them he needed to leave to get up early for work the next day. Around 10:30 p.m., Seehausen withdrew $200 in cash from an ATM in Los Angeles. He then went to a local supermarket where he purchased milk and cereal. At 11:54 p.m., Seehausen made a $2,999 payment via his smartphone to a friend who had loaned him money for school tuition, despite not being due for repayment until after graduation. His final sighting occurred at 12:02 a.m. on August 6, walking northbound on Alvarado Street. After Seehausen missed medical school classes, his friends contacted his parents in Pennsylvania, who called the police. Authorities found no signs of foul play in his apartment, but his keys, phone, wallet, and laptop were left behind. His state ID and the cash withdrawn from the ATM were missing, though the cereal box had been opened and the milk remained untouched.
