Summary:

Diane lived with her parents and siblings in San Bernardino, California, until March 1959, when her family moved to Dolan Springs, Arizona. She chose to stay behind with her boyfriend, Bennie Milton Webb. She later visited her family in Arizona in May 1959 and revealed she was pregnant and planning to marry Bennie, who was then in the Phoenix, Arizona area. While her father disapproved, her mother and younger brother traveled to Indio, California, to attend the wedding. This was the last time her family saw her. Diane continued writing home for several months, with her last letter postmarked August 22, 1959. After that, her correspondence abruptly stopped. Over a year later, Bennie wrote to Diane’s parents, assuming she was with them. He claimed he had last seen her after giving her $100 and putting her on a bus home. According to Bennie, Diane later wrote him once, saying she had miscarried. In 2006, was found by police still alive and interviewed. He claimed to have never married Diane and did not know what happened to her. He later stopped cooperating with police and refused a polygraph test.
