Case Information

Edmond Bradley Solomon III, aged 66, a former VA critical care nurse from South Carolina, embarked on a cruise vacation with his wife, Mimi, aboard Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas. Mr. Solomon had recently been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, a condition affecting behavior. The cruise departed from Miami, Florida, on March 30, with planned stops in Costa Maya, Mexico, Roatan, Honduras, and Cozumel, Mexico. On April 3, 2024, Mr. Solomon disappeared during the ship's stop in Cozumel, Mexico. He was last seen around 1:30 p.m. local time, shortly after disembarking with his wife. Mrs. Solomon noticed his absence after a restroom break near the terminal. A family member with the couple had gone into the bathroom to check on Solomon but discovered he wasn’t there. He was reported missing just after 8 p.m. Wednesday and a search and rescue operation was launched at 9 p.m., according to local agency Cozumel Civil Protection. During the search, local police received a call from a taxi driver who claimed to have picked up a tourist matching Solomon’s description at around 2:30 p.m. and was asked to drop the American off at a road with beach access. The taxi driver allegedly said Solomon had paid for the ride using his watch because he claimed he didn’t have any money. Edmond had a necklace with a GPS, which only works when within 33 feet of his wife’s phone, and was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, grey shorts, dark sunglasses and a blue hat. He was also reportedly spotted later Wednesday evening along the road of Isla de la Pasión in Cozumel.

  1. Many of the news articles around Edmond Solomon III are from early to late April 2024. As of April 25th Mexican authorities still were searching for him. I did a check on find a grave and saw that he was listed in their with a death date of the 3rd of April. Find A Grave did not have a burial site, this seems to suggest that he is listed as missing, presumed dead at this time.
