Erik McFadden was in contact with Sage, a transgender woman whose legal name is Dashad, and they arranged to meet on the evening of November 20, 2012, near the Amtrak station in Charlottesville, Virginia. Sage had been paid by Erik to keep their relationship a secret from his girlfriend. She was last seen around 6:30 p.m. in the 500 block of West Main Street and has not been heard from since. Her phone, which she typically kept charged and on, has remained off since that time. Shortly after Sage’s disappearance, Erik left town. His girlfriend reported him missing on November 24, but Erik later contacted police from New York, stating that Sage never showed up for their meeting. When law enforcement asked him to return for questioning, Erik declined. He admitted to meeting Sage that night but claimed he did not know what happened to her. His last known communication was an untraceable email sent to his girlfriend in May 2013. Erik McFadden remains a person of interest in the ongoing investigation. Authorities continue to look into additional individuals of interest.
