John Terry was last seen driving away from the Wal-Mart store in Hillsboro, Texas, on October 17, 2014. After running errands following work, the Wal-Mart was his final stop. He entered the store alone, purchased pet food, and left. The following day, his silver 2014 Jeep Compass was discovered abandoned on Hill County Road 2346, a remote area near Abbott, Texas, approximately 25 miles from his home. The vehicle was low on gas, the keys were still in the ignition, and the windows were rolled down. His work shirt and cigarettes were found in the front seat, while his cellular phone and the pet food he had purchased at Wal-Mart were in the backseat. However, his wallet was missing. Authorities believe the vehicle was not driven to that location by John, suggesting that someone may have parked the car there to mislead the investigation. While there was no immediate sign of foul play at the scene of the abandoned vehicle, authorities discovered blood spattered on the front door of Johnβs home, a remote cabin on his fatherβs property. At the time, he was living there with his two young sons.
