Joseph “Skyler” Burnley, a 27-year-old resident of Rankin County, Mississippi, was last seen on June 3, 2016. On that day, he was assisting his friends, Travis Brewer and Amanda Morris, in locating Brewer’s stolen truck near a wooded area in Brandon, Mississippi. According to Brewer and Morris, the group eventually split up to search for the vehicle, but Burnley never returned. Brewer later found his truck damaged, but there was no sign of Burnley. After unsuccessful attempts to locate Burnley, Brewer and Morris waited until 1:00 a.m. on June 4—approximately 15 hours after realizing he was missing—before contacting authorities. Brewer also left a note at Burnley’s uncle’s residence stating he feared “something bad” had happened. During the investigation, Morris passed a polygraph test, while Brewer’s results indicated deception when questioned about Burnley’s disappearance. Despite this, no charges have been filed. Burnley was known for his close relationship with his grandmother, whom he cared for, making his sudden disappearance particularly concerning.
