On September 14, 1990, Kacey ran away from her father’s home in southeast Portland, Oregon, after a disagreement around 11:00 p.m. Her father had asked her to move in with him and his wife or stop visiting him. Kacey, who lived with her mother in Keizer, Oregon, left with some clothes hidden in her purse. She was last seen at Kienow's Food Store, about ten blocks from her father’s house. Her purse, containing a bright pink blouse, was later found abandoned near the store, and she has not been seen since.
