The case gained attention following a tragic traffic accident on Fayette County 73 involving Kahleb’s family. His father, Steven Collins, and two-year-old sister, Ryleigh, lost their lives in the crash, while his mother remains in critical condition at UAB Hospital.

According to reports, Kahleb was not in the vehicle, and a search of the area revealed no trace of the one-year-old. John Bailey, Kahleb’s grandfather, has since been arrested. Court records indicate that Bailey has been charged with failing to report a missing child. Authorities allege that Bailey did not report Kahleb Rowan Collins missing around September 10, 2024.
