Kayla Mason was last seen in Toledo, Ohio, on July 30, 2019. At the time, she lived with her grandparents, worked full-time, and was the mother of a four-year-old daughter. She had recently been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, and she was not taking her bipolar medication. During the night she disappeared, she left behind a note stating that she was not good at saying goodbyes. Most of her belongings were left behind, with her taking only an inactive cellphone, some clothing, a tent, and a few other personal items. She has not been heard from since. Initially, police declined to classify her as missing, citing her status as an adult and the note suggesting she left voluntarily. However, in December 2019, Toledo police opened an investigation and officially listed her as a missing person. Few details are available in her case.
