Kent Jacobs disappeared from Hope Mills, North Carolina, on March 10, 2002. He lived in a group home during the week but spent weekends with his mother, Martha. That day, Kent followed his usual routine, walking to his childhood neighborhood near McDonald Road and Interstate 95, where his childhood friends still lived, while his mother attended church. He never returned for his 6:00 p.m. curfew and has not been heard from since. Kent has a mental disability and functions at the cognitive level of a nine-year-old. He requires medication as part of his ongoing care. His family expressed concern for his safety, noting that the area had a high crime rate. Some of Kentβs acquaintances were known criminals, and it is believed that his vulnerability may have been exploited. Despite extensive searches, no trace of him has been found.
