Leah Peebles, originally from Fort Worth, Texas, relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico, on May 5, 2006. She was staying temporarily with friends in the 2100 block of Erbbe Street Northeast when she disappeared on May 22, 2006. That evening, she left her temporary home to meet a man she had recently met at the Flying Star Cafe, where she was set to begin working the following week. She never returned, and her vehicle was found abandoned. Subsequent reports suggested that Peebles was seen in Albuquerque, going by the name “Mia” and reportedly working as a prostitute for a man named AJ. Investigators questioned the man but could not find any evidence to link him to Peebles. Peebles’ father made several trips to Albuquerque, as well as to Texas, Colorado, Arizona and Nevada, in search of her. The last credible sighting was in the fall of 2006, leading her father to suspect that she may have been sold to a pimp in another city. Peebles's father was killed in an accident in South Dakota in 2013. In his obituary, Peebles is listed as having survived him. Her case remains unsolved.
