3 years old at the time, she vanished from her playground at the 9400 block of Fredericksburg Road in San Antonio between 4:30 and 5:10 p.m. Her mother had left for a short period and returned to find her gone. Lina and her family are refugees from Afghanistan. Her father had served gallantly along side the United States military, and as a reward, his family was granted immigration visas. Remarkably, just a few months prior, Lina had survived the suicide blast that took the lives of 13 U.S. soldiers while the United States was exiting Afghanistan.
