Boffman was last seen leaving her residence on Holly Drive in Girard, Ohio, at approximately 6:30 p.m. on August 5, 2006. She left behind her purse, medication, and identification at home. While driving erratically, she was accompanied by a friend who asked to be let out of the vehicle. Boffman dropped him off and continued driving alone. At 5:30 a.m. the following day, Boffmanβs vehicle was discovered abandoned on the lawn in front of a library on the east side of Youngstown, Ohio. The car had been involved in a minor traffic collision. The keys were left in the ignition, the engine was running, and the door was open, but there was no sign of Boffman at the scene. The day before her disappearance, she had won $1,000 in the lottery and had ordered $500 worth of food for a party, but she never returned to pay for or collect the food. Authorities in Dallas, Texas, where Boffman has relatives, are investigating her disappearance, as she may have attempted to contact family members there.
