Melinda left her home to visit a friend, but it remains unclear who she intended to see or if she ever reached her destination. She has not been heard from since. While it wasn’t unusual for her to be away for extended periods, sometimes weeks or months, she had always returned to her family. The initial investigation indicated she may have been living in Brooklyn, NY. However, she was never located in that area, and no records have been located for her since 2008. Some sources currently place her in California. Her father passed away a few years ago, but he had not seen her since 2006 or later.

Her mother and father both has passed since her disappearance and she has 5 grandchildren she has never gotten a chance to meet.
