Summary

Melody and her family lived in the 300 block of North Mount Street on the West side of Baltimore. She had an aunt, who lived nearby, and Melody would often go over to her house to stay. On December 1, 1991, Melody went to visit a friend in the 300 block of Fremont Avenue. The friend stayed in a high rise named Lexington Terrace. According to police reports, this area of Baltimore was notorious for crime. Around 7:00 pm, Melody put on the coat of a teen-age boy, who lived in the apartment where the friend stayed, and left. She also left behind her own coat and bicycle, which had a flat tire. At first, her mother thought Melody was at her aunt’s house. No one realized she was missing until December 2, 1991, when she failed to attend school. Melody’s case received very little attention and Lexington Terrace was torn down five years after she vanished, in 1996. She was 12 years old at the time. She was wearing a borrowed boys' waist-length sky-blue coat with puffy sleeves, blue jeans, a blue sweatshirt, yellow socks, and either red Reebok sneakers or white sneakers. Age-progression photo to age 42.
