Michael was last seen helping his mother unload wood and carry it into their home in the area of Little Beaver and Tioga Road in Calvin, West Virginia at 4:30 p.m. on January 12, 2018. Once they finished unloading the trunk, without any warning, Michael runs off behind the house and into a wooded area. This is the last time Michael is seen. He was carrying only $2 and he left his cellular phone behind. On the day he went missing, Michael and his mother visited his sister, Brittany. Brittany observed that Michael seemed off during the visit, which was quite different from his mood two days prior when he had said he was having "the best day of his life." The night he went missing, overnight temperatures in the area dropped to 22 degrees below zero and it was raining and foggy. Subsequent police searches using helicopters, dive teams, bloodhounds and search crews turned almost nothing but about a week and a half after Michael's disappearance, his jacket was found approximately 300 yards from his home. The circumstances of his disappearance are unclear. His case remains unsolved.
