Monique and her sister Sidney, along with their mother, Jennifer Lancaster, disappeared from Topeka, Kansas, on May 12, 2000. That evening, Jennifer left the apartment she shared with her mother, Vicki, her sister, and her daughters, carrying a trash bag filled with quilts and baby clothes. She told Vicki she was going to launder them, despite having a washer and dryer at home. Her 1994 Jeep Cherokee was later found abandoned in the parking lot of a small apartment complex on Southeast Swygart, stripped of all personal belongings, including both infant car seats and Jenniferโs keys. In the days after her disappearance, Vicki noticed more of Jenniferโs belongings were missing, suggesting she had been quietly removing her things over time. However, she left behind her cell phone. Weeks later, Vicki received an unexpected letter from a Steak โn Shake restaurant in St. Louis, Missouri, addressed to Jennifer. It thanked her for filling out a comment card about her dining experience. Monique, Jennifer, and Sidney have never been seen again.
