Summary

Norma Louise Houghland and her sons Thomas and Richard disappeared from Sacramento, California on July 15, 1978. They didn't have air conditioning at home and during hot weather Norma would often take the children for rides in the car to stay cool. They may have done that on they day they disappeared. The only thing that was missing was Norma's car, a gold or light blue 1965 Pontiac LeMans with the California license plate number 254SBI and the vehicle identification number (VIN) 237375K134785. It has never been found.

The absolute last day that they were seen according to KCRA 3 NBC news (2013) is July 15, 1978 and the Sacramento police have never received any sort of clues as to there whereabouts. As of 2013, Karen Molina who is the sister of Norma Houghland is still alive and is actively helping to search the trio. According to old police files from the time, it was thought that Norma may have been suffering from depression. As of February 7th 2025, Adventures with Purpose has posted several videos to their YouTube channel within the last 3 weeks showing how they have been actively searching for the trio as well as discussing this case.
