Paul Michael Hanks is described as a white man with brown hair and green eyes. He was wearing a black hoodie or jacket, blue jeans and a small backpack.
The last confirmed sighting of Hanks was at Food Lion on 1200 East Main Street in Pulaski around 7:45 a.m. Monday. Police say there have been possible sightings of Hanks traveling on foot heading toward the Hiwassee/Allisonia area on the New River Trail around 9 a.m. Monday.
According to police, Hanks used to live near the trail and is known to visit nearby caves.
