Dr. Srinivasu Dasari, a general practitioner from India, moved to the U.S. in 1983 to pursue physician licensure. He lived with his sister and her husband at 9223 West 102nd Street in Overland Park, Kansas. On August 1, 1984, around 1:30 p.m., Srinivasu visited a copying center at 91st Street and Metcalf Avenue, three miles from his home. By 2:00 p.m., witnesses saw him park his red Toyota nearby, where two men in a 1969-1974 greenish-blue Ford van with large side windows approached him. After a brief conversation, Srinivasu followed the van to the Meadowlark Hill Apartments. At the apartment complex, one man used a hydraulic jack to lift Srinivasu’s car and removed the right rear tire. The three men then entered the van, taking the tire but leaving the car on the jack. The van drove off, and Srinivasu was never seen again. Srinivasu is believed to have entered the van willingly. However, police suspect foul play occurred afterward.
