Case Information

Description of Incident: Tammy Pitkin, a well-known local realtor from Red Bluff, California, was reported missing on October 26, 2022, by family members. She had not been seen since October 14, 2022. The Linn County Sheriff’s Office deputies found a vehicle connected to Pitkin on a dead-end U.S. Forest Service road off Highway 20, approximately 30 miles east of Sweet Home, Oregon, on October 29, 2022. The vehicle, a gray Toyota Camry with California license plates, was parked at the end of the road with no one around.

Investigative Findings:

  • Personal belongings belonging to Tammy Pitkin were found inside the vehicle, including her purse with identification, passport, Social Security Card, birth certificate, an overnight bag with toiletries, regular medication, a gun, leashes for her dogs, and two Home Depot moving boxes containing clothing and shoes.
  • Pitkin's two dogs, a white/black/brown Jack Russell terrier and a small white dog named Trooper, were reported to have been with her at the time of her disappearance.
  • Three months after Pitkin disappeared, Trooper was found running along Highway 20, in close proximity to Pitkin’s abandoned vehicle. Trooper has since been adopted by an Oregon couple.

Family Information: Tammy Pitkin has a son, whose wedding and the birth of her grandchild she has missed since her disappearance. Despite being estranged from her half-sister Airaka Laughlin for about five years, they shared a close relationship in the past.

Current Status:

  • The case remains active and open, with law enforcement officials continuing to investigate tips as they come in.
  • There is no evidence of foul play, according to investigators in Linn County, Oregon.
  • Airaka Laughlin, Tammy’s half-sister, is actively involved in the search efforts and has expressed a desire to hire a private investigator and set up a tip-line to gather information about Tammy’s disappearance.
