Day was last seen in Harrah, Oklahoma, on December 3, 2009. He left his home in Jones, Oklahoma, intending to drive to his workplace at Kimray in Oklahoma City but never arrived. Using the GPS tracking device on Day’s work vehicle, authorities located the truck. It was found parked near a field in the 13800 block of Northeast 63rd Street, an area not on his usual route. GPS data revealed that the truck made a brief, four-minute stop at the intersection of Harrah Road and Britton Road before being parked at its final location at 6:00 a.m. Day’s last known communication was a text message to his wife, stating, “We need to talk.†When she replied to his message, his phone had already been turned off. His cell phone remains missing. Day was in the midst of a custody battle with his ex-girlfriend regarding their daughter. Notably, he vanished one day before a scheduled court hearing related to the case. Day’s wife has stated that it is completely out of character for him to leave without warning, especially given the ongoing custody proceedings.
