Ocasio was last seen leaving the Florida Tap Room bar in Orlando, Florida, at 2:30 a.m. on May 27, 2009. She has not been heard from since. That same evening, her vehicle was found abandoned on Franklin Street in Ocoee, Florida. Her keys, wallet, and phone were missing and have never been recovered. James Virgil Hataway is the primary suspect in her disappearance. Ocasio was last seen with Hataway, who claimed she drove him to his home on Lyle Street and then left. However, phone records show Ocasio’s phone remained in the area until 8:30 a.m., and her car was found only 150 yards from Hataway’s residence. After her disappearance, police found drug paraphernalia in Hataway's home, leading to his arrest. Following his link to Ocasio’s case, another woman came forward, alleging Hataway had attempted sexual assault against her. In 2008, Rachael Clarke accused Hataway of choking her and causing severe head injuries, leading to a charge of attempted murder. Hataway was convicted in 2011 and sentenced to life in prison. He has never been charged in Ocasio's case.
