Florida — Authorities in Sumter County are urgently seeking information about a missing family with potential ties to the Tampa Bay area. The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office issued a Facebook post on Wednesday, reporting the disappearance of Debra Bergey, her two children, Dominic Bergey (6 years old), and Delainey Bergey (10 years old), as well as Debra’s boyfriend, Grady Sidney Matthew Johnson.
According to officials, the last known sighting of the family was on December 29, 2023, when a family member observed them traveling south on U.S. 301 near CR-673. The family is believed to be driving a 2007 Orange Dodge Nitro with a Michigan tag reading “BERGEY.” During the investigation, it was revealed that Debra Bergey had made suicidal statements to family members via text message.
The family is considered homeless, and investigators are reaching out to communities in Pasco, Hernando, and Polk Counties where Ms. Bergey has contacts.

On January 16th, 2024, Sumter County Deputies initiated a report for the missing adult female, Debra Bergey. The investigation revealed that Ms. Bergey had made suicidal statements, and her children, Delainey Francis Bergey and Dominic Cornelius Bergey, were also unaccounted for.
The family was last seen on December 29th, 2023, traveling South on US 301 in the area of CR 673 at 10:00 A.M. Their vehicle is described as a 2007 Orange Dodge Nitro with the Michigan specialty tag “BERGEY.” Ms. Bergey’s boyfriend, Grady Sidney Matthew Johnson, remains unlocated, and contact has not been established at this time.
Ms. Bergey is reported to have contacts in Pasco, Hernando, and Polk Counties, and it is suggested that she may be staying in one of these areas. Furthermore, Ms. Bergey’s phone has been turned off.
